The market had a good day, but lost a bit of steam near the close.  I would like to point out that some of the big financial stocks rose in light volume today.  Take a look at this list:

1)  The market had a nice sell-off today.  Volume was (slightly) heavier on the DJIA and the S&P500 and lighter on the NASDAQ.  If you are going to get a pull back, this is the action you want to see – higher volume up days with lighter volume down days.

The market performed well last week.  Volume fell as prices retreated, and rose as the market climbed.  No distribution days were seen.  As I said on Friday, the market was extremely overbought, the NASDAQ McClellan oscillator lost 36 points on Friday and now stands at a +53.  I would note that this is still overbought.  [...]

A late save by the markets today.  The DJIA, NASDAQ, and S&P500 all held their 50 day moving averages.  These indices reversed lower mid-day and then vaulted higher in the closing minutes of today’s session.  Volume was higher than yesterday.  My one caution is the market now looks a bit overbought.  The NASDAQ McClellan oscillator [...]
